2024 was a special year for Tines. And a busy one! We introduced 177 (and counting) new product capabilities. We raised an additional $50M from existing investors. And most importantly, our builders – the users of the Tines platform – brought more workflows to life than ever before: solving problems for their teams, and often sharing their learnings with the broader Tines community.
Our mission at Tines remains to power the world’s most important workflows, and in 2024, we hit some major milestones on our journey towards achieving it. Let’s take a look.
Learning to embrace AI
Just before 2024 kicked off, our CEO Eoin Hinchy shared some of his cybersecurity predictions for the year. He suspected AI was going to play a significant role in automation as defenders use AI to make incident response more efficient. It was going to carry cyber defenders farther than hackers. And then a few short months later, we introduced AI in Tines.
AI in Tines
AI in Tines empowers customers to build, run, and monitor their most important workflows more efficiently. We introduced two features to allow builders to activate on it:
Automatic mode in Event Transform
AI action, our 8th action
At Tines, trust, safety, and privacy are at the core of everything we do, including AI in Tines. We designed these features with security and privacy in mind, so you have the confidence to leverage AI in your workflows without compromising your data and privacy. We are proud to say that we run the LLM within our own infrastructure, and your data will never leave the region, travel online, be logged, or used for training. You are in complete control.
And we wanted customers to feel that sense of control by sharing these features with a few of you in an early access program. In just a couple of weeks, builders at MyFitnessPal and Udemy were able to unlock new time savings and discover ways to lower the barrier to entry for non-developers on their teams. If you want to hear more from our customers using AI, I recommend you watch our recent webinar with Tines builders from Ecko and Samara, where we discussed how they are optimizing their security operations with AI.
Workbench
And we didn’t stop there. A few months later we introduced Workbench. Eoin’s other AI prediction for 2024 was that generative AI and LLMs would obliterate barriers to entry. He noted that “no-code tools have already reduced the need to code. No-code will be the next barrier to fall.”
Workbench empowers individuals—those who might not view themselves as workflow builders—to take charge of automation and increase their impact through orchestration. This Tines-powered AI chat interface puts the controls in your hands, allowing you to take action and access proprietary data in real-time, privately and securely. If you haven’t already checked out our Library, we have an entire section dedicated to stories to help you get started with Workbench.
Staying ahead of the GRC landscape
It’s no secret that tackling cybersecurity threats while addressing governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) needs is a multifaceted challenge. We did some digging this year to understand how Tines can best prepare you for those GRC conversations and improve your policy enforcement and monitoring.
In this blog, we broke down how security teams manage GRC with Tines and spoke with Tines’ head of IT Operations and Information Security Brandon Maxwell. Brandon noted how compliance doesn’t always guarantee security and “while there is some overlap, today’s security leaders must recognize the need to go beyond what compliance frameworks call for to achieve an extra layer of protection and peace of mind against potentially devastating breaches.” Workflow orchestration and automation can play a role in this need, by accelerating audit processes or enhancing risk management.
The Tines team got together on a webinar this past October to discuss Tines for GRC, and uncovered essential insights and actionable strategies to aid in navigating the complexities of GRC in today’s environment.
Empowering the IT Ops builder
In many companies, IT practitioners are also on the first line of defense against an increasingly sophisticated array of threats. Yet they also have their own unique challenges and considerations. The pressure to maintain security while handling numerous other responsibilities can take its toll, but orchestration and automation can be game changers for these overloaded IT teams.
In recent months we sat down with some Tines builders to discuss the ways they’re optimizing IT processes through Tines, and I encourage you to listen to their conversations:
Celebrating and learning from our customers
2024 was the year to be a Tines builder, and we were certainly impressed with the level of workflows you all were building.
Security Automation Roadshows
The year kicked off with our first Security Automation Roadshow in San Francisco, followed by additional roadshows in London and New York City. These roadshows brought the Tines community together for hands-on training and knowledge sharing. Builders got to share their expert perspectives on how organizations can use workflow orchestration and automation to operate more effectively, mitigate risk, reduce tech debt, and do the work that matters most. I’m excited to report that these roadshows were so sucessful, we’re doubling down on them in 2025. Keep an eye out for the next roadshow near you.
You Did WHAT With Tines?!
We also saw the return of our building competition You Did WHAT With Tines?! Tines builders were asked to share their best and brightest workflows that solved real-world challenges with our new AI-powered capabilities - our winning entries are listed below:
Grand prize winner: “Analyze SMS phishing with the AI action” by Michael Fischler at Roblox
Category winners
AI efficiency: “Generate a CrowdStrike RFM report with AI” by Tom Power at University of British Columbia

Tines Top Builder program
Considering the level of achievement from our builders in 2024, we thought it was only right to recognize them officially with the Top Builder program. This program takes a look at builder activity to show just how much hands-on experience an individual builder has in Tines in a given year. Earlier this month, we awarded a select group of Tines builders with Top Builder status, from Bronze, Silver, and Gold, including Tines-exclusive swag. If you didn’t reach Top Builder status this year, don’t worry. The numbers have already reset for next year!
