When we first introduced Pages, it started with a few updates to our forms tool. We took a simple form and added more dynamic page elements and a formal page editor. That led to granular access, customization, and so much more to make it the powerful feature it is today. Now, teams can build polished and efficient apps for stronger collaboration and communication across the entire organization. It’s been a busy few months for Tines Pages, so we wanted to reshare some of the latest features you may have missed in What’s New.
Fewer interruptions, greater context
A big challenge for both security and IT professionals is dealing with frequent interruptions by other teams, whether it be a manager needing access to their employee’s folders, or a teammate curious about the credibility of a certain IP address. Although these are valid requests, it can be time-consuming for practitioners to gather the necessary information and run through the steps themselves, increasing the burden of context switching.
By creating comprehensive, interactive pages, you can provide end-users with all the context they need in one place. This will lead to fewer interruptions for you and your team, allowing you to focus on building and responding to the tasks at hand. Check out these stories from the Library that could help solve the aforementioned problems for your own team:
Page Collections are a great way to create a resource hub for security or IT information that everyone in your organization can access. This collection could consist of different apps such as submitting an IT ticket, reporting a bug, details on compliance requirements, or incident response procedures. It’s helpful to note that pages can be accessed at various levels based on your choosing:
Only members of that Tines team
Members of the Tines tenant
Anyone publicly with the link
Via SSO authentication
Certain processes in your workflow may benefit from input from customers or partners. Should you choose, anyone can interact with your pages, allowing your team to get the information they need promptly.
🪄Tip
One Tines customer, in particular, uses pages to streamline how they interact with their EDR tools. When a SOC analyst at Layer 3 Communications works on an incident, there used to be a multi-step process required to close out the case. And working with multiple EDR tools meant the closing process needed to be completed in the same manner for each tool. To maintain consistency and efficiency, the team uses a Tines page with pre-populated data, which is then sent to another story that interacts with that specific EDR tool upon submission. This removes the guesswork around what to write or searching for associated tools. This leads to cases being closed in seconds, freeing up time for more impactful work.
“[Pages] allows us to have a heightened level of interactivity with the stories that we wouldn’t otherwise have, which I think is really important.”
Alan Jones, Director of Security Services at Layer 3 Communications
The impact of dynamic interactions
Our main goal with Pages is to help you create dynamic, interactive experiences for the end user. An effective page dynamically advances your workflow goals via the end user, collects their inputs, and provides relevant outputs. Each person’s journey through a page can be tailored to their specific needs or role.
Check out how this page goes from a simple form to a complete application that modifies to the user’s input:
The video uses different elements like get a page viewer’s email to personalize it from the start, various conditional elements to adapt the page to the user’s input, and our latest releases, a custom layout and action colors for the page to take the design to the next level.
We can also examine the page from the backend
By using the following page elements, we've created an easy-to-use page and an organized structure behind the scenes:
Collapse the left panel | Modify page and container widths | Get the page viewer email | Create a container and name it | Add a condition | Change the page theme
Building for transparency
Whether you’re a security or IT practitioner, you understand the importance of building efficiency within your team and allowing transparency to the rest of the organization. By using pages and organizing them into collections, you can create a comprehensive self-service portal that saves your team time and helps the end user find their information quickly while also providing visibility into your processes. These apps help you securely exchange critical information throughout a workflow, and as always with Tines, your assets stay secure against potential threats.
We’ve seen from successful Tines builders that pages should be designed with the end-user’s journey in mind, anticipating their needs and guiding them towards successful outcomes. And by focusing on creating dynamic, context-rich applications, you can build a foundation for more efficient and transparent collaboration across the organization.
