Calling all Tines builders: “You Did WHAT With Tines?!” is back

Written by Thomas Kinsella

We are excited to announce our competition “You Did WHAT With Tines?!” is back for another round!

At Tines, we’re immensely proud of our community and the magic that happens when users come together to share ideas.

One of the ways we support our community is through our library, where you’ll find hundreds of free-to-access, pre-built workflows inspired by real customer experiences and, in many cases, submitted by Tines users.

These pre-built workflows, or stories as we refer to them in Tines, not only provide a consistent source of inspiration but also help users save time and effort in powering their most important workflows. Anyone who uses Tines can submit a story to the library, and these community stories often end up being some of our favorites!

So far, the library has 750+ pre-built workflows, 75+ of which were submitted by Tines users. One of the most exciting moments of the year so far was seeing what Tines users built with our new AI features.

“Anything can be done in Tines. If you can think it, you can do it.”

YDWWT

“You Did WHAT With Tines?!” (YDWWT) is a fun way for our incredible community of builders to showcase their most creative and useful Tines workflows. We love seeing what you’ve built, from the simple, to the complex, and even the downright wacky.

This competition is a way for us to show our appreciation, through a series of themed awards and some pretty exciting prizes.

Ready to get creative? Here are some exciting categories to kickstart your submission!

We’d love to see you leverage AI in Tines to tackle your team's daily challenges or enhance your end-user experience like never before. Whether it's boosting productivity, automating tedious tasks, or creating seamless user interactions, the possibilities are endless. So, let your imagination run wild and show us your innovative solutions!

  • AI efficiency: Share how you’re leveraging our newest features to make your workflows even more powerful.

  • Everyday workflows: Show us a security and/or IT workflow that’s bringing automation to the forefront of your organization.

  • Tiny Tines: Have a story that’s small but mighty? We want to see your best story with 10 actions or less.

  • Building apps: Share how you're creating rich end-user experiences by connecting pages and actions to build self-contained apps.

  • Tines for fun: Trying out our free community edition or automating beyond the confines of your 9-5? Show us any unexpected ways you use Tines in the spirit of fun, entertainment or convenience.

You’ve got 6 weeks to send us your favorite Tines stories and receive exclusive swag. Then it’s time to celebrate! Everyone will receive a prize for participating, with the prizes getting even better for each category winner and the grand prize winner. The top winner will receive a very special trip to New York City to attend our upcoming Security Automation Roadshow event, with flight and hotel included!

Use the form on the YDWWT competition page to submit your best Tines story.
Note that all submissions will be vetted and added to the community library after the competition under the “YDWWT” tag. Should you wish to not have your name or company associated with your Tines story, please indicate so in the submission form.

Submissions are open until August 20th, 2024, and winners will be notified and announced on our website in late September 2024.

Looking for some inspiration?

Last year’s overall winner was Tyler Talaga from MyFitnessPal, who impressed us with his story macOS Patch Management. Managing software updates for macOS requires careful attention, depending on a user’s privilege level or preferred configuration. Tyler’s solution cleverly solves for both, using an app and workflow built in Tines, which allows users to opt in or out of a pilot group, and pushes the updates they need using a flexible, centralized automation.
