At Tines, we're committed to making workflow building as easy and efficient as possible. That’s why we’re so proud of our library, which reached an exciting milestone today when it officially became home to over 1000 pre-built workflows.
These pre-built workflows, known to many Tines users as stories, are designed to foster knowledge sharing across the security and IT community, providing inspiration and shortcuts to help users build faster and more effectively. Created and shared by customers, users, partners, and the Tines team, these workflows are easy to use and free to access.
Many Tines builders, from newbies to experts, turn to the library when embarking on a new orchestration or automation project. As Haley Kidd, Senior Staff Cyber Security Engineer at GE Vernova, puts it:
The Tines Library and templates are always the first place I go when I’m building out a new process. Even if there’s not an exact story matching the problem, oftentimes I can find a starting point that reduces my build time.

Spotlighting our 1,000th pre-built workflow - GE Vernova's disaster recovery solution

We're thrilled to share that our 1000th workflow comes from Haley Kidd, Senior Staff Cyber Security Engineer at leading global energy technology company, GE Vernova. This innovative story automates the backup of critical Tines components to an S3 bucket, addressing a crucial need in disaster recovery.
While Tines has robust change control and role permissions, this workflow serves as a vital last line of defense against scenarios like accidental deletions, human errors, or unexpected issues from rogue automations or API updates. By backing up essential components like stories, credentials, records, resources, and templates, it provides a safety net that allows teams to restore specific elements of GE’s tenant state without losing other critical data.
Now, let's hear from Haley!
What challenge or pain point led you to build this workflow?
Our primary goal with this story was to provide backup of “things we have in Tines that would hurt to lose in case of disaster”. In other words, we were not looking for a GitHub change control level of granularity, but more a place we could go if we lost one of the five components we’re backing up in the S3 bucket. This would allow us to cherry-pick things to reinstate or bring back into the tenant rather than needing the Tines team to do a full “point-in-time” restore.
How do you hope other teams will benefit from using or adapting it?
The hope is other teams can drop this into their tenant as is and replace it with their own S3 bucket (or alternate housing option for the output), or begin thinking about what their own disaster recovery process might be.
What’s one tip you’d offer other Tines builders?
Keep up to date with the What’s New page or - pro tip! - use a Teams bot or Slack bot to post it internally so you always know when new features are rolling out.
I have greatly enjoyed the flexibility and extensibility of Tines. We have a wide variety of users here and Tines has allowed us to provide an automation platform that’s accessible to seasoned engineers alongside folks who are newer to engineering or automation.
